And honestly, who can blame him? He’ll be 31 in September — this could be his last big contract, his final opportunity to cash in before age becomes a factor.
Let’s be honest: United aren’t in a position to seriously contend for trophies anytime soon. We’re in the middle of a rebuild, and by the time we’re truly competitive again, Bruno will be 33 or 34 — and the club will likely already be planning for his successor.
As painful as it is to admit, the writing’s on the wall. If he chooses to leave, it won’t be because he lacks loyalty to United — it’ll be because he has to make the best decision for himself and his loved ones.
