Manchester United Urged to Make Victor Osimhen Top Priority After 36-Goal Season

Manchester United are being strongly encouraged to reignite their interest in Victor Osimhen, who just wrapped up an extraordinary season with Galatasaray, netting 36 goals. The club passed on signing him two summers ago in favor of Rasmus Hojlund, a decision many now question.

After clashing with Napoli coach Antonio Conte, Osimhen was loaned to Galatasaray, where he thrived. The Nigerian forward, 26, scored 25 league goals and 36 overall, becoming a key figure in Galatasaray’s title win. Without his contributions, the trophy might have gone to rivals Fenerbahce, led by Jose Mourinho.

While some may downplay his performance due to the Turkish league’s lower reputation compared to the Premier League or Serie A, Osimhen’s consistency is hard to ignore. Over the past three seasons, he’s scored 84 goals — including 26 in Napoli’s 2022/23 title-winning season — and previously impressed in France with Lille.

Manchester United passed on Osimhen two years ago, choosing the younger Hojlund instead. But Osimhen’s track record, physicality, experience, and championship pedigree make him a different class of striker. With United ending recent seasons with negative goal differences, they can’t afford another risky signing like Liam Delap. Osimhen is a proven scorer across multiple leagues.

However, the lack of European competition at Old Trafford next season could be a drawback. Osimhen has Champions League and Europa League experience, which he may not want to give up. Still, his previous comments about dreaming of playing in the Premier League could sway his decision.

If United are serious about signing him, they might need to offload stars like Bruno Fernandes or Alejandro Garnacho to generate the necessary funds. Such a move would mark a bold step by United’s board and new manager Ruben Amorim.

For a team in dire need of a reliable goal-scorer, securing Osimhen could be a turning point for the club’s future
