Andy Robertson has acknowledged that his future at Liverpool is uncertain as the club appears set to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth this summer. Robertson, whose contract with the Reds runs until June 2026, knows that manager Arne Slot wants to strengthen the left-back position.
The Scotland captain played 45 games this season as Liverpool secured the Premier League title but faced increasing competition from Kostas Tsimikas due to some dips in form. Liverpool has been frequently linked with several left-back targets, including Kerkez, and Robertson has previously recognized these transfer rumors.
Now, Robertson admits that a deal for the 21-year-old defender seems likely, but he insists he still has plenty to contribute. While he’s uncertain about what will happen after his contract expires next year, the 31-year-old intends to complete the upcoming season with the club.
Speaking to BBC Scotland about the Kerkez speculation, Robertson said: “We’re not naive; it seems a deal might happen. But until it does, I’m not thinking about it.”
He expressed confidence in his abilities and reflected on his successful eight years at Liverpool, proud of the trophies won and his role in the team. Despite his age, he believes he can still perform at a high level and has focused on staying fit and available — something he managed well this season after struggling with injuries last year.
Robertson added that while he can’t predict how he’ll feel in a few years, at 31, he feels excellent and ready to keep playing. He highlighted his fitness, noting he didn’t miss any games or training sessions this season, and doesn’t feel like he’s slowing down.
Looking ahead, he admitted he doesn’t know what lies beyond his current contract but believes he still has a lot to offer. He prefers to focus on the immediate future, including upcoming Scotland matches and then taking some time off with family before pre-season training.
Ultimately, Robertson said, “That’s all I can focus on right now. I haven’t thought too much about what happens after.”
