Inter Milan’s €80M Bid for Arda Güler Rejected by Real Madrid
After being knocked out by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Inter Milan made an ambitious move in the transfer market by offering €80 million for Real Madrid’s young talent Arda Güler. The 20-year-old Turkish midfielder has long been on Inter’s radar as a player who could bring creativity and flair to their squad. Inter’s sporting director, Piero Ausilio, praised Güler for his speed, vision, and technical skills—qualities he believes align perfectly with the club’s ambitions.
Despite the attractive offer, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez quickly turned it down. Sources close to the club say Pérez sees Güler as a cornerstone of the team’s future, especially with manager Carlo Ancelotti rumored to be leaving soon. In fact, Pérez reportedly declared that Güler wouldn’t be sold for even €100 million. The club’s confidence in the player is also reflected in their decision to pay Fenerbahçe a €4 million bonus after his 50th appearance, a milestone reached during the Copa del Rey final.
Since his €20 million transfer from Fenerbahçe in 2023, Güler’s time at Real Madrid has been a mix of high potential and limited playing time. Though he made 43 appearances—scoring nine goals and providing eight assists—he started only seven matches and was mainly used as a substitute. This limited role has sparked interest from other clubs, including AC Milan and teams from the Bundesliga.
Inter hopes to reunite Güler with Turkish international Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who has publicly supported the idea and referred to Güler as “like a little brother.” Çalhanoğlu believes the young midfielder could thrive at San Siro. With Inter’s financial situation now stronger, the club is in a position to target top talents like Güler.
While Inter remains keen, Real Madrid has no plans to let Güler go. The player himself has affirmed his commitment to the Spanish giants, telling Marca: “I love Real Madrid and its fans. I came here to be a key part of the team, and I’ll keep fighting until I succeed.”
Even though Inter’s offer was declined, the club may shift focus to other targets like Real Madrid’s Nico Paz. A loan deal for Güler might still be an option if it comes with terms favorable to Inter’s long-term plans. The situation remains fluid as the transfer window approaches, but prying Güler away from Madrid will require more than money—Real sees him as an essential part of their future.
