Cody Gakpo Addresses Bayern Munich Transfer Rumors
Cody Gakpo has dismissed recent speculation linking him with a summer move to Bayern Munich.
Rumors have circulated recently suggesting that Bayern Munich is interested in signing the Liverpool forward. Reports from Christian Falk (Bayern Insider) and Florian Plettenberg (via X) indicated that the Dutch international might be seen as a potential departure option if a suitable offer arrives.
Earlier this week, Empire of the Kop revealed that Liverpool values Gakpo at €100 million (£84.2m), but the club has no plans to sell him this summer, even though Bayern executives have been discussing a possible move.
Gakpo Responds Calmly to Transfer Talk
Speaking ahead of the Netherlands’ World Cup qualifier against Finland, Gakpo played down the speculation, telling GOAL: “I haven’t heard anything about it myself. I’m staying out of it. Maybe my agent knows something, but I’m focused on myself.”
No Indication Gakpo Wants to Leave
Gakpo’s remarks offer reassurance to Liverpool supporters, especially when compared to teammate Luis Diaz, who recently confirmed his agents are in contact with other clubs, including Barcelona.
After an impressive season, scoring 18 goals across all competitions and playing every Premier League match he was available for, Gakpo has little reason to leave Liverpool, especially following his successful return to his preferred position on the left wing under new manager Arne Slot.
Christian Falk also recently suggested that Gakpo is open to renewing his contract at Liverpool, and Bayern may now be exploring other targets.
For now, Gakpo seems committed to staying at Anfield — a comforting stance for fans amid ongoing transfer rumors surrounding other key players like Diaz, Darwin Núñez, and Federico Chiesa.
