Barcelona Stuns Fans by Announcing Date to Finalize Long-Awaited Deal

Following a remarkable season in which Barcelona secured a domestic treble, the club’s leadership is now shifting its focus toward the summer transfer window with firm intent. Their goals have expanded beyond national success—they’re aiming to reclaim their spot at the top of European football and once again lift the Champions League trophy.

According to recent press reports, Barcelona is on the verge of signing Espanyol’s young goalkeeper, Juan Garcia, as part of their preparations for the 2025–26 season. Spanish newspaper Sport revealed that Garcia is set to sign with Barcelona this coming Wednesday, at which point the club will activate his €25 million release clause.

Espanyol’s CEO, Mao Yiwu, stated that the club refuses to negotiate directly with Barcelona, insisting the only path forward is to pay the full clause. The report also noted that Garcia has made it clear he expects to be a starting goalkeeper rather than sitting on the bench—something Barcelona manager Flick has reportedly acknowledged.
