Slot monitors the signing of one of Barcelona’s stars in the next transfer window

Liverpool FC’s management is reportedly considering a major move to sign a player from Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The club is said to be evaluating the possibility of acquiring Frenkie de Jong as part of their plans to strengthen the squad under Dutch coach Arne Slot.

This move is in line with Liverpool’s efforts to improve the team’s capabilities with Slot at the helm.

According to a report from “Football Spain,” Liverpool is closely monitoring De Jong’s situation at Barcelona.

The report suggests that coach Arne Slot is keen on working with the midfielder, who is a fellow Dutchman, and believes that De Jong’s skills are a good fit for the club’s evolving tactical approach.

This interest comes amid reports that contract renewal talks between Barcelona and De Jong have stalled, potentially leading to the player being sold next summer.

De Jong, 27, is a versatile central midfielder whose contract with Barcelona runs through June 2026. Since joining the club, he has appeared in 222 matches across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing 21 assists.

During his time at Barcelona, De Jong has won the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, and played in the UEFA Super Cup.
