Liverpool defender Andy Robertson is reportedly attracting serious interest from Atletico Madrid as the Spanish club aims to bolster its defense during the summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old left-back may soon face increased competition for his starting spot at Anfield, with Liverpool on the verge of signing Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in a deal valued around £45 million. With just a year left on his current contract, Robertson has become a top priority for Atletico, who have a history of signing experienced Premier League full-backs such as Kieran Trippier and Matt Doherty.
Although Liverpool have not yet received an official offer, a formal bid could leave the club with a tough decision regarding Robertson’s future.
Speaking earlier this week, the Scotland international acknowledged uncertainty about what lies ahead:
“We’ve had good discussions, me and the club, but what the future holds, I’m not sure,” Robertson said. “I know my contract situation. I know the club is looking at younger, exciting players. That’s part of being at a big club — you always face competition.”
Robertson has been a regular starter since joining from Hull City in 2017, amassing 342 appearances. This past season, he featured in 45 matches across all competitions and played 29 times in the Premier League, helping Liverpool secure another league title.
With Kerkez expected to arrive soon, either Robertson or fellow left-back Kostas Tsimikas — who has also drawn interest from other clubs — may be on the way out.
