Fresh off their Premier League title win, Liverpool is moving quickly in the transfer market to strengthen their squad for next season.
After securing their 20th domestic league title under new manager Arne Slot, the club is aiming to build on that success by reinforcing key areas of the team during the summer transfer window.
Although the Reds remained inactive in the January market, Slot had hinted that plans were already in motion for summer additions.
One signing has already been confirmed: Jeremie Frimpong is now a Liverpool player. The club is also working to complete deals for Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz, with all three signings expected to bring Liverpool’s total summer spending close to £200 million.
To help balance the books, Liverpool has already earned around £22.5 million from recent sales — including Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid and Caoimhin Kelleher’s transfer to Brentford.
Deal Agreed for Milos Kerkez
According to TBR Football, Liverpool has reached a full agreement on a deal for Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez, and a medical has been scheduled.
Chief correspondent Graeme Bailey reported that Kerkez is “very happy” to be completing the move, having turned down interest from several rival clubs in recent weeks. His desire to join Liverpool remained strong throughout negotiations.
Kerkez is currently with the Hungary national team and is expected to line up alongside Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai in an international friendly against Sweden.
While no official fee has been confirmed, sources suggest Liverpool will pay between £40 million and £45 million for the 21-year-old, who played every league game for Bournemouth last season, scoring twice and contributing assists.
Impact on Current Squad
Kerkez’s arrival likely signals a shake-up at left-back, where Liverpool currently has both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas. Robertson remains the first-choice option but has just one year left on his contract, while Tsimikas has two years remaining.
Kerkez, viewed as a long-term solution at left-back, could replace either player, with Tsimikas the more likely to depart unless Robertson chooses to leave or the club decides against extending his contract.
Last month, Robertson expressed his hope of securing a new deal with the club. Speaking at a fan event, the Scottish defender said:
“I’ve only got one year left. I hope the fans can make as much noise about a new deal for me as they did for Mo and Virgil. I’ve had eight great years here, and hopefully there are more to come. I still believe I can deliver top performances, and I’ve shown that this season.”
