Liverpool are once again showing interest in Newcastle United star Alexander Isak, with new reports revealing the Merseyside club is prepared to make a substantial financial commitment to bring the Swedish forward to Anfield.
Fresh off their 2024/25 Premier League title triumph, Liverpool have wasted no time in reshaping their squad. They’ve already secured Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen as a potential successor to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
In addition to Frimpong, the Reds are said to have agreed on a record-breaking deal for midfielder Florian Wirtz and are closing in on a move for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. Yet, the club’s transfer activity appears far from finished.
Recent reports indicate that Liverpool are stepping up their pursuit of Isak, who was in outstanding form last season for Newcastle. The 24-year-old’s performances have drawn attention from several top clubs, including Arsenal and Barcelona, but it’s Liverpool who now seem to be in pole position.
According to GiveMeSport, Liverpool are ready to spend big—potentially breaking the British transfer record—to land Isak, who scored 26 goals and tallied six assists in 42 appearances across all competitions. The Reds reportedly see him as a perfect fit for their attacking line.
Despite Newcastle qualifying for the 2025/26 Champions League, they could entertain offers of over £150 million for Isak. While that valuation might scare off many clubs, Liverpool are seriously contemplating such a move—provided they can balance the books.
To finance the deal, Liverpool may part ways with Darwin Nunez, who has drawn interest from Napoli, Atletico Madrid, and several Saudi clubs. Additional departures could also include attackers like Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz, or Diogo Jota. Proceeds from any sales could help fund Isak’s transfer or be redirected towards alternative targets such as Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike, or Julian Alvarez
