Barcelona Eyeing Kevin Lomonaco as Budget-Friendly Defensive Reinforcement
FC Barcelona is reportedly exploring the possibility of signing 23-year-old Argentine defender Kevin Lomonaco, currently playing for Independiente. The club is considering him as a potential addition to strengthen their defense ahead of possible summer departures.
Lomonaco, whose contract runs until December 2028, is drawing attention from several European sides. His release clause is set at $20 million, a figure seen as affordable by European standards.
Independiente’s general secretary, Daniel Seoane, indicated that unless a strong offer comes from Europe, the club expects Lomonaco to stay.
Barcelona’s interest could increase if either Ronald Araujo or Andreas Christensen leaves this summer. Araujo, though under contract until 2031, has had limited game time under new coach Hansi Flick. Christensen, on the other hand, is nearing the end of his contract and has struggled with injuries.
Lomonaco is being viewed as a cost-efficient backup should either player depart.
Additionally, Barcelona recently earned €400,000 from Álex Collado’s transfer to Qatari side Al Shamal.
