Despite their conservative stance, the reigning Premier League champions have been proactive in reinforcing their squad. After evaluating his players for a full season, new manager Arne Slot is beginning to shape the team in his vision, already bringing in four new additions.
Milos Kerkez is expected to be the fifth signing, joining Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi, and Florian Wirtz. Romano reports that Kerkez has completed his medical and that a £40 million deal with Bournemouth is set, with an official announcement imminent for the 21-year-old left-back.
However, rather than rushing more transfers, Liverpool will now proceed strategically, prioritizing player sales before making additional signings. Up to 11 players could be on their way out, with one major departure already confirmed.
While Slot is eager to add a central defender, Ornstein notes that the club’s main focus will be on acquiring a new forward. Though Liverpool admire players like Alexander Isak from Newcastle and Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, there are no active negotiations yet.
With several signings already secured — including Frimpong, Wirtz, and the imminent arrival of Kerkez — Liverpool are prepared to wait and observe how the transfer market evolves. In defense, Marc Guehi is a top target, with Crystal Palace open to selling if they receive offers above £50 million. Palace are reportedly scouting Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP as a potential successor.
Additionally, Liverpool have engaged in talks with Napoli regarding a possible part-exchange deal for striker Victor Osimhen, offering two players as part of the proposal.
Uncertainty also surrounds Ibrahima Konaté, who is reportedly unhappy with a recent contract offer and could leave this summer. Harvey Elliott may also exit, with a £40 million offer from a fellow Premier League club on the table as he seeks more playing time.
