“Chooses Cash Over Glory?” – Fans React as Cristiano Ronaldo Extends Al-Nassr Deal

Cristiano Ronaldo has opted to remain with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, and not all fans are pleased. The 40-year-old’s contract was set to expire at the end of June, sparking speculation about a potential short-term move, possibly to a FIFA Club World Cup participant. However, that transfer never materialized.

Instead, Al-Nassr released a social media video featuring Ronaldo, who declared:
“Al-Nassr forever”, with the caption:
“The story continues.”

Fan reactions were swift and mixed. Some criticized Ronaldo’s decision, suggesting that he prioritizes money over competing for top-level trophies. One user sarcastically wrote:

“He prefers money over winning trophies again. Good luck, Grandpa!”

Another fan expressed disappointment but loyalty:

“Do we feel good about his renewal? No. But will we support him forever? Yes.”

Some responded with heartbreak emojis or harsh remarks like:

“You’re embarrassing yourself.”

Others questioned why Ronaldo chose Al-Nassr over more prominent Saudi clubs like Al-Hilal or Al-Ittihad after leaving Manchester United:

“Why didn’t he join one of the top two biggest clubs in the league? Al-Nassr are terrible.”

Ronaldo has now committed to the club until 2027.

A Look Back at Ronaldo’s Inspiration

In a past awards ceremony during his Manchester United days, Ronaldo humorously named himself as his favorite player to watch, before admitting that Diego Maradona was his childhood idol:

“I like to watch myself… I like to (watch) Maradona. I remember when I was a kid, I always looked up to him. He was my idol.”

The Portuguese legend enjoyed two spells at Manchester United, a lengthy and successful period with Real Madrid, and a stint at Juventus before making his move to Saudi Arabia in late 2022.
