Rodri backs Pedri and Lamine Yamal as future Ballon d’Or winners

Spanish midfield anchor Rodri has publicly voiced his support for young talents Pedri and Lamine Yamal, naming them as two of the most promising players capable of one day winning football’s highest individual honor — the Ballon d’Or.

In an interview, the Manchester City star was asked who he believed could lift the coveted award in the future. While he acknowledged the difficulty of choosing just one player given the wealth of global talent, Rodri didn’t hesitate to highlight his fellow Spaniards.

“Honestly, there are so many great players out there that it’s hard to name just one,” he said. “But I always like to support my own, especially the young talents coming out of Spain. Pedri has been absolutely unbelievable — the level of maturity, intelligence, and consistency he shows at such a young age is rare. And then there’s Lamine Yamal, who’s already making waves despite being just a teenager. His skill, confidence, and fearlessness on the pitch are incredible.”

Rodri added that while he has his personal favorites, the decision ultimately lies in the hands of voters and performance on the biggest stages.

“Of course, I’m not the judge — I can’t say who will win or not. These things depend on so many factors: performance, titles, influence in big moments. But both of them have the potential. Let’s see what happens in the coming years.”

With Pedri already established as a midfield maestro for both Barcelona and Spain, and Lamine Yamal quickly emerging as one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe, Rodri’s endorsement only reinforces the bright future of Spanish football.
