Laporta is close to signing a world-class striker to replace Barcelona’s star

Reports have surfaced indicating that a Barcelona player has influenced the club’s management, led by Joan Laporta, to prioritize the signing of a new striker in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Barcelona suffered their third loss in La Liga this season, losing 2-0 to Las Palmas at Montjuic Stadium in the latest round of matches. According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, Laporta has decided to focus on acquiring a new forward due to Robert Lewandowski’s recent dip in form.

The report suggests that Lewandowski, who will turn 37 next season, is pushing Barcelona to explore alternative options, with names like Erling Haaland, Viktor Gyökeres, and Omar Marmoush being considered.

Marmoush, the Egyptian forward observed by Barcelona scouts during a game against Midtjylland, is reportedly the most likely candidate. His transfer value is expected to be lower than that of players such as Haaland or those from Sporting Lisbon.

The article also highlighted Laporta’s growing frustration with Lewandowski’s recent performances, especially his inability to convert straightforward scoring opportunities, which could pose a threat to Barcelona’s season.
