Manchester United are accelerating their summer transfer plans under new boss Rúben Amorim, with the club now pushing hard to land multiple key signings in rapid succession as they aim to overhaul their attacking unit before the 2025/26 season.
Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo remains the top target, with United looking to build their right-wing attack around the prolific Cameroonian. Following a stellar 2024/25 campaign in which he netted 20 goals across 38 league matches, Mbeumo has emerged as the leading candidate to revitalize United’s frontline.
Despite stiff interest from both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle, Mbeumo is said to have verbally committed to a move to Old Trafford. United have already tabled a £60 million bid — rejected by Brentford — though negotiations continue and a medical has reportedly been arranged. However, the transfer isn’t yet complete and awaits formal agreement.
Amorim views Mbeumo as a key piece in increasing attacking efficiency, especially in contrast to underwhelming performances from players like Antony. Mbeumo’s versatility, end product, and work rate make him an ideal fit for the manager’s high-tempo, attacking philosophy.
Another major name on United’s radar is Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović. The powerful Serbian forward, known for his movement and clinical finishing, fits Amorim’s tactical requirements for a central striker. Talks are said to be ongoing, with a player-swap deal involving Jadon Sancho — who is expected to leave this summer — being considered.
On the left wing, United are eyeing AC Milan’s Rafael Leão. The Portuguese star, who racked up 12 goals and 11 assists last season, is being lined up as a possible long-term replacement for Marcus Rashford. Rashford was loaned to Aston Villa earlier this year and is widely expected to leave permanently.
United are reportedly preparing a £60 million bid for Leão — a fee below Milan’s valuation but one that could spark negotiations. Leão’s signature dribbling style, explosive pace, and ability to cut inside and finish have drawn favorable comparisons to Rashford in his prime, though many believe Leão currently offers more consistency and threat in the final third.
Beyond the frontline, United are also keeping a close eye on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha. Though no formal offer has been made, the German international is admired for his athleticism, technical ability, and composure under pressure. He could become a midfield option later in the window, should United seek to strengthen in that area.
With all five names — Mbeumo, Vlahović, Leão, Sancho (outgoing), and Nmecha — in the mix, United are gearing up for what could be a blockbuster day in the transfer market, signaling a bold new era under Amorim’s leadership.
