Barcelona Confirms Funds Are Ready for Nico Williams Transfer, Payment Date Revealed

Barcelona has confirmed they have the necessary funds in the bank to activate Nico Williams’ release clause. However, the club plans to delay the payment until the start of the 2025/26 financial year.

To avoid impacting their 2024/25 financial statements, Barcelona won’t trigger the clause in June. Instead, they intend to pay the €58.5 million release clause on July 9 to finalize the deal.

Club president Joan Laporta addressed the situation, stating: “We are prepared to pay a release clause if the right opportunity arises. Should we decide to proceed, Barça is financially ready to act.”

Meanwhile, Athletic Club has appealed to La Liga to block the transfer, but the league has declined. Instead, La Liga will carefully review Barcelona’s finances during the player registration period from July to August.

Reports also suggest Nico Williams is seeking guarantees about his registration, concerned about potential complications similar to what happened with Dani Olmo
