Simon Jordan had previously predicted that Chelsea could finish in second place, and their impressive victory over Aston Villa has reinforced his belief.
With Manchester City facing difficulties, Jordan feels Chelsea still has room to grow. Despite Enzo Maresca’s humble comments about his team’s performance, Jordan doesn’t view his prediction as far-fetched.
Speaking on TalkSport alongside former Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill, the two agreed that Chelsea’s current form is not a temporary fluke, but a sign that the team is serious about competing. They also supported Maresca’s decision to downplay expectations for now.
“Ask him again in March, if Chelsea are three points behind the leaders,” Jordan joked.
While Jordan has been a supporter of Chelsea’s project from the beginning, he admitted to having some doubts about certain players, particularly Enzo Fernandez.
However, he now recognizes the progress made by both the players and the overall team structure, with Fernandez, in particular, beginning to justify his hefty transfer fee.
“I don’t think they’ll win the league, but they’re definitely in a competitive position,” Jordan concluded.
With both individual performances and team dynamics improving, it’s clear that Chelsea’s project is gaining momentum, and Jordan can take pride in having backed them from the start.
