Chelsea have officially completed the permanent signing of Brazilian forward Joao Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Brighton’s head coach, Fabian Hürzeler, called the transfer a positive outcome for all sides involved:
“This transfer benefits everyone. For us as a club, it’s a smart financial decision, especially in a position where we have strong depth and plenty of attacking options.
For Joao, it’s an exciting next step – he’ll now be playing Champions League football, and that exposure will boost his chances of earning a regular spot in Brazil’s World Cup squad next summer.
Joao has given the club many memorable moments, both during my tenure and before. We’re grateful for everything he’s contributed over the last two seasons and wish him all the best moving forward.”
Joao Pedro joins Chelsea in a reported £55 million deal.
