Real Madrid: “I prefer this,” Drogba’s strong words in defense of Mbappé!

Kylian Mbappé has faced heavy criticism in Spain, but he has received strong support from football legend Didier Drogba.

After a disappointing performance against Liverpool, Mbappé came under intense scrutiny from Spanish media. El Mundo Deportivo headlined “Mbappé’s terrible fall,” while AS labeled his performance as “the worst match since his arrival.” Marca described it as a “nightmare for Mbappé, who is now a shadow of the player he once was, with no excuses left and suffering from a confidence crisis.”

However, the French captain responded in the best possible way, scoring against Leganés and regaining his goal-scoring form. In light of the criticism from the Spanish press, Didier Drogba took the opportunity to defend the former Paris Saint-Germain striker.

“I am a bit disappointed to see this wave of ingratitude toward him,” Drogba said. The Chelsea and African football legend didn’t hold back in an interview with RFI. “He’s someone who has done so much for France. He played a key role in winning the second star, and two years ago, he was on the verge of giving France a third star. Now, he’s facing a bit of turmoil. But that’s the nature of our sport, which is often very ungrateful.”

Drogba continued, “These are just cycles. He’s going through a tough period, his adaptation in Madrid isn’t easy, but I prefer this over a situation where everything comes easy for him. This experience will teach him a lot. He will grow, mature, and that will benefit both him and the French team.

These difficult moments are part of a player’s career. They’re like mental injuries, but they can transform you, making you better and stronger. It’s a transitional phase.”

Drogba’s inspiring words reflect his belief that Mbappé will come out of this challenging period even stronger and reach new heights in his career. Let’s hope he’s right.
