Liverpool’s pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is progressing quickly, with two key obstacles now reportedly cleared.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that conversations between Liverpool, Guehi’s representatives, and Crystal Palace are ongoing and expected to continue throughout the week. The England international is now seen as one of Liverpool’s top defensive targets.
“Liverpool really appreciate Marc Guehi,” Romano said via his YouTube channel. “Talks are ongoing. Guehi wants clarity about his role and playing time, but Liverpool are presenting their vision and Arne Slot’s plans for the future.”
One significant development is Guehi’s decision not to sign a new contract with Crystal Palace, whose current deal runs until 2026. This puts pressure on Palace to sell this summer to avoid losing the 23-year-old for free down the line.
Palace reportedly want between £45m and £50m (€52m–€58m), but with Guehi entering the final two years of his contract, Liverpool are hoping to negotiate the price down.
With Guehi open to the move and Palace ready to sell, Liverpool appear to be in a strong position to land the centre-back — potentially marking another key addition in their summer rebuild under Arne Slot.
