Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez Becomes ‘Dream Target’ as Napoli Prepare New Round of Talks

Napoli have identified Darwin Nunez as their top transfer priority and are preparing for a new round of negotiations with Liverpool, according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.

With Victor Osimhen expected to leave for Galatasaray in the coming days, Napoli are accelerating their efforts to bring in Nunez as a marquee replacement. The Uruguayan forward, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022, has reportedly expressed strong interest in the move.

“Darwin wants Napoli and he’s open to the move,” Romano posted on X. “He’s giving total priority to Napoli at this stage.”

Nunez, 26, has struggled for consistency during his time at Anfield, and his goal-scoring record has faced criticism. Despite flashes of brilliance, the striker has yet to fully meet expectations. New Liverpool boss Arne Slot is reportedly open to reshaping his forward line, and Nunez’s departure could create room for a new attacking arrival.

Napoli’s head coach, fresh off a league title triumph, is said to be a keen admirer of Nunez and sees him as a perfect fit for the club’s style.

While Liverpool are open to negotiations, they will only sanction Nunez’s departure if their valuation is met, ensuring they have the resources to reinvest in the squad. Discussions are expected to resume in the coming days as Napoli seek to finalize their top summer signing.
