Liverpool Eyeing Oihan Sancet and Johan Bakayoko for Future Reinforcements
Liverpool are reportedly planning a major move for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Oihan Sancet, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net. The 24-year-old has caught the attention of several top European clubs, including the Reds, after a standout season in La Liga.
Sancet has been in exceptional form for Bilbao, particularly excelling with his goal-scoring ability. The attacking midfielder has netted eight goals in just 15 appearances across all competitions. A product of Bilbao’s youth academy, Sancet has made 172 senior appearances, contributing 33 goals and 15 assists. Standing at 6 feet 2 inches, the Spain international blends physicality with technical skill, thriving both in the air and on the ground. If Liverpool secure his services, Sancet could add a new dimension to their midfield.
Reports suggest that Arne Slot’s team is preparing an €80 million offer for Sancet, who has already earned four caps for Spain, scoring on his debut against Scotland. Given potential concerns over midfield depth due to injuries, Sancet would be a valuable addition to Jürgen Klopp’s squad.
Liverpool Also Targeting PSV’s Johan Bakayoko as Salah Successor
In addition to Sancet, Liverpool are reportedly eyeing PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko as a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, according to Football Insider via The Hard Tackle. The 21-year-old Belgian is also being pursued by Newcastle United but is viewed by Liverpool as an ideal successor to Salah’s role on the right wing.
Bakayoko has impressed for PSV, showcasing creativity and goal-scoring ability. To date, he has scored 27 goals and provided 22 assists in 104 appearances for the Dutch side. This season, under manager Peter Bosz, Bakayoko has scored six goals and registered three assists in 19 appearances.
Much like Salah, Bakayoko is a left-footed winger who excels on the right flank, making him a natural fit for Liverpool’s attacking setup. With Salah’s contract entering its final year, Liverpool are preparing for all eventualities. Whether Salah extends his stay or departs next summer, Bakayoko could be a promising option to lead Liverpool’s attack in the future.
