Szoboszlai responds warmly to Milos Kerkez after Liverpool debut
Dominik Szoboszlai has reacted to a touching message from Liverpool’s new signing Milos Kerkez following the Reds’ 3-1 pre-season win over Preston North End.
The match was Liverpool’s first outing since the tragic loss of Diogo Jota, and Arne Slot’s side secured a solid victory thanks to goals from Conor Bradley, Darwin Núñez, and Cody Gakpo.
It was also a landmark occasion for Milos Kerkez, who made his debut after arriving from Bournemouth this summer. Slot gave game time to several youngsters, including Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha, and made wholesale changes at halftime. Kerkez was among those brought on and played the second half, helping to maintain the lead.
After the game, Kerkez took to Instagram with the message: “We stay together, we are Liverpool!” Fellow Hungarian and Liverpool midfielder Szoboszlai showed his support by responding with a red heart emoji.
Kerkez ready to make an impact at Anfield
Despite the emotional atmosphere, Kerkez impressed on debut and showed glimpses of why the club is excited about his potential.
Last season at Bournemouth, the 21-year-old stood out as one of the Premier League’s best left-backs, making 38 appearances, scoring twice, and providing five assists. His performances helped Bournemouth achieve their highest finish since the 2016/17 campaign.
Now at Liverpool, he’s expected to thrive even more in an attacking role surrounded by top-tier players like Mohamed Salah. With many seeing him as the long-term successor to Andy Robertson, Kerkez is poised to play a key role in Arne Slot’s plans for the future.
Meanwhile, rising star Kareem Ahmed from the Liverpool academy is reportedly close to signing a new deal, signaling the club’s continued investment in youth.
