Hugo Ekitike’s Imminent Arrival Could Trigger $74M Liverpool Clear-Out
Liverpool are showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer market as Arne Slot edges closer to securing yet another high-profile signing in Hugo Ekitike.
Following the big-money acquisition of Florian Wirtz, as well as the additions of Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez, the Reds are now targeting Eintracht Frankfurt’s Ekitike. Personal terms with the 23-year-old striker have reportedly been agreed, with a formal bid of around £70 million ($94.2M) already submitted.
Despite also being linked with a blockbuster £120 million ($161.5M) move for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Liverpool remain focused on wrapping up the Ekitike deal swiftly.
However, with several new arrivals already through the door, Liverpool are expected to offload players to keep their finances in check. Among those likely to be sold are young midfielders Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton, who could fetch a combined total of around £55 million ($74M).
According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United are keen on signing both players, with Elliott, 22, valued at £40 million ($53.8M), and Morton, also 22, priced at around £15 million ($20.2M). Both featured in England’s victorious Under-21 European Championship squad this summer and have openly reflected on their uncertain futures.
Elliott, who found opportunities limited under Slot last season, admitted:
“It’s something the club and I need to discuss. Football careers are short, and I don’t want to waste precious years. I need to think about my development and what’s best for me.”
Morton, who only made a handful of appearances in cup competitions, added:
“It was a mentally challenging season. Not playing regularly is tough, especially for someone as driven as I am. Luckily, I had great support around me.”
And it’s not just Elliott and Morton who could be on the move. Forwards Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez are also the subject of ongoing transfer speculation, suggesting that Ekitike’s arrival could spark a wider reshuffle at Anfield.
As Liverpool push ahead with their recruitment drive, all eyes will be on who else exits Merseyside before the summer window closes.
