According to The Times, during the FIFA dinner ahead of the final, Chelsea representatives overheard PSG’s delegation discussing how and where they would celebrate winning the trophy — confidently dismissing Chelsea’s chances.
This arrogance was quickly relayed to Maresca, who ensured his players were aware of PSG’s complacency. Instead of being discouraged, Chelsea used it as fuel to deliver a ruthless performance, comfortably dismantling the Champions League holders and lifting the trophy in emphatic fashion.
