Dani Ceballos’ Future Takes a Twisting Turn as Real Madrid Rejects Bid from Real Betis

Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is at the center of growing transfer drama this summer after hinting at a desire to return “home” during a recent trip to Seville. The visit, paired with his revealing comments, has intensified speculation about a potential move—especially back to his former club, Real Betis.

Spanish outlet AS reports that Real Betis submitted a €5 million offer to bring back the 28-year-old, but Real Madrid rejected the bid, demanding €15 million instead. This firm stance has added complications to any deal, despite Ceballos’s willingness to take a pay cut to make the return possible.

Real Madrid’s management, led by Florentino Pérez, appears unwilling to budge, largely due to the recent departure of Luka Modrić and the club’s desire to retain midfield depth. However, new coach Xabi Alonso has yet to show real confidence in Ceballos, even sidelining him during the Club World Cup, despite a lack of natural playmakers in the squad.

At nearly 29, Ceballos is eager for regular first-team football, which he’s unlikely to consistently find in Madrid. A move to Betis would not only reunite him with a club that deeply values him, but also offer a fresh start under a system where he’s fully trusted. Sevilla has also been mentioned as a potential suitor, but Betis remains the most probable destination—if they can meet Madrid’s asking price.
