Barcelona Drop Three Youngsters from First-Team Squad, Send Them Back to Barça Atlètic
As FC Barcelona resume their preseason training on Tuesday at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper with a double session, head coach Hansi Flick has decided to streamline his first-team squad. Three academy players — Jan Virgili, Landry Farre, and Juan Hernandez — who were training with the senior side last week have now been sent back to Barça Atlètic. They will rejoin Juliano Belletti’s team for the remainder of preseason.
Despite the cut, several other youngsters have managed to impress Flick and will stay with the senior team. Among them are Guillermo Fernandez, Toni Fernandez, Jofre Torrents, Dro Fernandez, and the newly signed Roony Bardghji, all of whom are expected to travel with the squad on the upcoming tour of Japan and South Korea.
In a setback, Ibrahim Diarra will miss the tour due to a muscle tear in his right thigh sustained in training. The Malian midfielder will remain in Barcelona to recover.
