Lewis Steele, a reporter for the Daily Mail, confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that this suspension will not affect Liverpool’s next Premier League game against Tottenham.
Slot received the yellow card for showing frustration with referee Tony Harrington’s decision to caution Curtis Jones in the second half.
While Southampton may not pose a significant challenge, Liverpool would certainly prefer to have their manager available to help them get back on track in the Premier League.
Regarding Andy Robertson, the positive news for the left-back is that his red card suspension for denying a goalscoring opportunity after fouling Harry Wilson will be served in the League Cup. As a result, the 30-year-old will miss the match against Southampton, managed by Russell Martin, who is struggling with his team’s form.
However, some comments made after the 2-2 draw with Fulham have raised concerns about Robertson’s future availability. Arne Slot explained, “If you get a kick like that, two studs on the knee, it can hurt for a few minutes. We hoped it would improve if he kept running. I only had one defender on the bench who isn’t a left-back, so you hope he could push through.”
Slot continued, “I first noticed he wasn’t fully himself when they played the ball behind him, and although he managed to head it back to Alisson, I thought, ‘Let’s see how this goes.’ Shortly after, he was sent off.”
Slot added, “There’s nothing to blame him for—he showed great character in wanting to continue, but unfortunately, it led to a deserved red card.”
