Liverpool Targeting Palace Star Marc Guehi.

Liverpool appear to be closing in on another high-profile signing, with talks intensifying over a potential move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. Despite already investing nearly £290 million this summer on players such as Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez, the Reds are still active in the transfer market. Their spending spree follows the departures of Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez, Ben Doak, and Jarell Quansah, leaving room for further reinforcements.

According to reports, Liverpool officials are preparing to hold fresh negotiations with Palace this week, with Guehi emerging as their top defensive target. The England international is entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park and is said to have made it clear that Anfield is his preferred destination.

Competition Fades as Guehi Chooses Liverpool

Both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have expressed strong interest in signing Guehi, making approaches in recent weeks. However, the 25-year-old has turned down their offers, despite the lure of Champions League football with Newcastle and Spurs’ ambitious long-term project.

Instead, Guehi is holding out for Liverpool, believing the club can offer him immediate opportunities as well as a long-term future, especially as Virgil van Dijk approaches the latter stages of his career. Praised by former England manager Gareth Southgate as an “exceptional” defender, Guehi is viewed by Liverpool as an ideal addition to strengthen Arne Slot’s backline.
