Instead, he made headlines with a social media post accusing Newcastle of breaking promises made earlier this summer. The club quickly responded, insisting they have no intention of selling him before the deadline.
Liverpool, however, remain determined to secure their top attacking target. Their opening bid — around £110 million plus add-ons — was rejected. Many believed interest would cool after the signing of Hugo Ekitike, but reports suggest Liverpool are preparing an improved offer.
According to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Newcastle are demanding close to £150 million, though they may accept less if certain conditions are met. One key requirement is that the club secures a replacement before any sale is approved.

Downie notes that if Newcastle manage to sign Wissa soon — and if Liverpool increase their offer to around £130 million — the pressure to sell could grow. Such a move, however, would leave Howe with a worrying lack of firepower heading into the season.
