Trent Alexander-Arnold Drops Liverpool Contract Hint as He Outlines Future Plans
Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has shared his long-term ambitions, revealing that he is focused on “building a legacy” in football.
The Reds’ vice-captain, who has already won every major trophy since joining the first team in 2016, is thinking about his lasting impact on the game at just 26 years old. In a candid interview with Men in Blazers, the right-back, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season, expressed his desire to be remembered as one of the game’s greats.
“Of course, winning more trophies [in the future], but I think on a personal level, there’s a legacy, building a legacy,” he said. “That is something that is important. Just being spoken about in the highest regard, especially after you have finished.”
He continued, “So I think in 10 or 15 years, if I am spoken about as one of the best right-backs or the best right-back, then that is what I am playing for now, I think. And using it as motivation.”
Alexander-Arnold also reflected on his strong connection to Liverpool, pondering whether being from Merseyside makes him feel more personally invested in the club’s success.
“Do I feel things more as a Scouser? I don’t know because I’ve got nothing to compare it against, if I’m honest. So I don’t know if I feel it more than others, but I definitely feel it, of course,” he explained.
Having grown up as a Liverpool fan, Alexander-Arnold added, “I have been a fan, I know the emotions of the game, the people around me are all fans and supporters, so of course, I probably see it and am more open to it than a lot of other players are, as I’ve got more connections and friends who love the club.”
While he is deeply connected to Liverpool, he remained uncertain about whether his local roots make him feel more emotionally tied to the club compared to other players. “So I feel it, but I am more open to it, but whether I feel it more or less, I don’t know, to be honest.”
