Following Albert Batlle’s comments after a recent visit to UEFA, it appears increasingly unlikely that the match will take place at Spotify Camp Nou this fall. The club is now weighing several alternative options to accommodate both the fixture schedule and other events at their stadium.
Currently, the club has three potential solutions on the table for hosting the game. The first option involves moving the match to Girona’s stadium. This location is relatively close to Barcelona and could offer convenience and comfort for both fans and the team. However, no official contact has yet been made with Girona to confirm availability or terms, so this remains a preliminary idea rather than a finalized plan.
The second alternative considers using Palau Sant Jordi as the venue. This would require coordinating with organizers of a major concert scheduled for Friday, the 12th, featuring Post Malone. While Sant Jordi could technically host the game, the challenge lies in its already limited capacity for ticket sales, making this option logistically difficult. The stadium’s size and scheduling conflicts make it a less favorable choice, although it has not been completely ruled out.
The third and currently less favored solution is to request that LaLiga schedule the fourth match as an away game at Valencia’s Mestalla Stadium. While this would avoid logistical complications at Camp Nou, the club anticipates potential objections from other LaLiga teams. Despite this, it remains a feasible fallback if neither Girona nor Sant Jordi can be arranged successfully.
Barcelona’s management is thus carefully evaluating each scenario, balancing fan accessibility, stadium availability, and league regulations.
