Unlike teammates Tyler Morton and James McConnell, who are heading out on loan, the young Spaniard will stay put despite enjoying a productive loan spell at Las Palmas last season, where he featured in 14 matches.
According to The Times’ Paul Joyce, Liverpool’s plan is to keep Bajcetic on Merseyside, allowing him to continue his development under Arne Slot and his coaching staff. Another advantage of this decision is that the midfielder contributes to the club’s homegrown quota for the Champions League.
The 20-year-old has already made 22 senior appearances for the Reds, scoring once in a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa back in 2022.
Added depth in midfield
Liverpool see Bajcetic as valuable cover for Ryan Gravenberch in the holding role. Wataru Endo remains a reliable alternative, while Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai can also step in if needed. Even so, having a natural defensive midfielder like Bajcetic strengthens the squad.
The challenge now for Bajcetic is whether he can break into the first team, especially after missing much of pre-season due to surgery following an injury at the end of last term.
