Liverpool Boosted in Pursuit of Left-Back Transfer Target
Liverpool have received a major boost in their efforts to secure a new signing.
Under manager Arne Slot, while most players have performed well, left-back Andy Robertson’s recent form has raised concerns.
A red card in the 2-2 draw with Fulham and a subpar performance against Arsenal earlier in the season have left questions about his place in the team.
As Premier League leaders, Liverpool are now looking to strengthen the left-back position, with Fulham’s Antonee Robinson emerging as a leading target. The US international impressed in Fulham’s recent visit to Anfield, where he successfully neutralized Mohamed Salah.
Other left-back options include Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies. However, Marca reports that Manchester United and Manchester City are also interested in Robinson, which could spark a transfer battle for his signature.
Robinson addressed the rumors, stating:
“I’m very happy here. The fact that other teams are interested is flattering. Ultimately, it comes down to whether someone is willing to meet Fulham’s asking price. If the club decides it’s the right move, I would leave.”
Robinson’s attacking and defensive capabilities make him a strong fit for Liverpool’s style of play under Slot. With six assists this season, he ranks among the top performers, trailing only Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka.
Given Robertson’s struggles and Kostas Tsimikas’ injury concerns, Liverpool is in urgent need of reinforcement at left-back. Club legend Jamie Carragher has recommended signing Bournemouth’s Kerkez, while Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri is also under consideration.
