Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall may leave Chelsea in the upcoming January transfer window, just six months after joining the club.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who was signed from Leicester City for £30 million in July, has struggled to secure regular playing time under head coach Enzo Maresca. He has only played 55 minutes across five Premier League appearances this season.
According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea is open to letting Dewsbury-Hall depart to seek more game time, with a potential return to Leicester City being a strong possibility. The Mirror also reports that Chelsea would consider a loan move for Dewsbury-Hall, with Maresca reportedly open to the idea. However, given Dewsbury-Hall’s £80,000 weekly wages and his contract running until 2029, Chelsea may need to cover part of his salary if he goes out on loan.
Dewsbury-Hall has faced challenges adjusting to his reduced role at Chelsea. Maresca had noted, “At Leicester, Kiernan was the most important player. At Chelsea, he is one of many,” acknowledging the difficulty of the transition. Despite limited league appearances, Dewsbury-Hall has shown promise in other competitions, scoring his first goal for the club in October during a 4-2 UEFA Conference League win over Gent.
With the January transfer window approaching, Chelsea seems ready to let Dewsbury-Hall seek a fresh start, possibly at Leicester, where he could gain the playing time needed to regain his confidence and form.
