Isak Involved but Midfielder Absent: Liverpool Training Summary Ahead of Atletico Madrid

Liverpool held an open training session at the AXA Training Centre on Tuesday morning ahead of their Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid, with manager Arne Slot close to having a full squad available.

The big positive was the return of Alexander Isak, who featured after missing the weekend win over Burnley as a precaution. The £125m forward is pushing for a debut, though Slot may still opt to start Hugo Ekitike and ease the Swede in from the bench.

Elsewhere, Alexis Mac Allister came through unscathed despite a heavy knock against Chelsea, while Federico Chiesa also trained even though he is not part of Liverpool’s Champions League squad list.

Academy trio Rio Ngumoha, Trey Nyoni, and Jayden Danns were also present, with Nyoni and Danns eligible for UEFA’s ‘List B’, giving Slot flexibility for selection.

The only absentee was Curtis Jones, who is still sidelined with the injury sustained in last month’s win over Arsenal.

With nearly a full complement available, Slot faces a welcome selection dilemma. Final team news will be confirmed 75 minutes before kick-off, with all eyes on whether Isak is handed his Anfield debut from the start.

Liverpool enter the tie seeking a fifth straight victory in all competitions.
