Liverpool’s 17-year-old striker Will Wright has been ruled out for several matches after picking up an injury in the UEFA Youth League clash with Atletico Madrid.
Journalist Lewis Bower confirmed that scans revealed the issue is “not as serious as first feared”, though the summer signing from Salford City will still be sidelined temporarily.
The setback comes as manager Arne Slot prepares to rotate heavily for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Southampton. Several youngsters—Kieran Morrison, Tommy Pilling, Jayden Danns, and Trey Nyoni—were held back from U21 duty, a strong hint they could feature with the seniors.
Meanwhile, Scanlon, Chambers, and Bajcetic continue their returns from injury by building fitness at U21 level. First-team regulars Van Dijk, Konaté, Salah, Gravenberch, and Szoboszlai are expected to be rested.
