To continue their title pursuit, squad reinforcements are crucial. The left-back position, in particular, requires attention due to Andy Robertson’s recent dip in form and Kostas Tsimikas’ ongoing fitness issues.
Reports suggest that Fulham’s Antonee Robinson has become Liverpool’s primary target for this position. Club legend Jamie Carragher, commenting on Robinson’s impressive performance in Fulham’s 2-2 draw at Anfield, lauded the defender on Sky Sports:
“He was superb, the best player on the pitch. To come to Anfield, face someone like Mo Salah—arguably the league’s best player this season—and earn a Man of the Match award says a lot. I think Liverpool will prioritize signing a left-back in January, and Robinson will be at the top of their list.”
Known for his defensive resilience and attacking capability, Robinson could provide the quality and depth Liverpool need in defense. However, acquiring him may prove challenging, as Fulham are unlikely to sell one of their key players midseason. Still, the opportunity to compete for a Premier League title could tempt the USA international to make the move.
In addition to Robinson, Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies has also been linked as another potential left-back target for Liverpool.
