Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has sparked excitement and speculation among fans after admitting that a return to Anfield “is theoretically possible” during a recent interview. The German tactician, who left Liverpool in 2024 after nine memorable years, spoke candidly about his time away from management and his enduring connection to the club.
Nearly two years after stepping down, Klopp — now serving as Global Head of Soccer for Red Bull’s football division— reflected on his life post-Liverpool and the possibility of one day coming back. Speaking on the Diary of a CEOpodcast, he revealed that while he currently enjoys his new role, he hasn’t entirely closed the door on a future return.
“I said I would never coach another team in England,” Klopp explained. “So if I ever came back, it would only be Liverpool. Yes, theoretically, it’s possible.”
The 58-year-old, who guided Liverpool to a Premier League title, Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, and the Club World Cup, emphasized that he is not actively seeking a coaching comeback. Instead, he spoke about his satisfaction with his current projects, helping Red Bull’s network of clubs and contributing to the German Football League’s efforts to develop young players.
“I love what I do now. I don’t miss coaching or standing in the rain for three hours,” Klopp said. “After managing over 1,000 games, I’ve spent enough time in dressing rooms. I don’t want to pass away there.”
Still, Klopp’s comments have left fans dreaming of a potential return. His deep affection for Liverpool remains evident, and his acknowledgment that the door isn’t entirely closed has only fueled hopes among supporters who still see him as the heart and soul of the modern Liverpool era.
