Josko Gvardiol Acknowledges Liverpool’s Resurgence Ahead of Premier League Showdown

Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol has admitted that Liverpool are back in top form, as both teams prepare for a massive Premier League clash this Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking to Hayters TV, the Croatian international praised Liverpool’s recent performances while warning of a tough contest ahead.

“They are back and in good form. I think it’s going to be a great game,” Gvardiol said. “The advantage is that we’re playing at home, and hopefully we can get three points — but it’s not going to be easy. It’ll be 90 minutes of running and fighting, so we need to prepare well.”

Manchester City come into the fixture after a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth, with Erling Haaland netting twice to underline their attacking power. However, Gvardiol’s comments highlight the growing threat posed by Arne Slot’s revitalized Liverpool.

The Reds recently defeated Aston Villa 2-0, a match that saw Mohamed Salah score his 250th goal for the club — a clear sign that Liverpool are regaining momentum. After suffering four consecutive league defeats earlier in the season, Slot’s men have rediscovered their rhythm, pressing effectively and playing with renewed energy.

That form carried over into their Champions League triumph over Real Madrid, reinforcing the belief that Liverpool are once again a force to be reckoned with. Slot, who managed to beat City twice last season, will be eager to repeat that feat — setting up an intense and highly anticipated encounter this weekend
