He insists that the club should do whatever it takes to sign this player, even if it requires selling key defenders like Saliba and Lewis Skelly to fund the transfer. Gilberto believes this addition could make Arsenal unstoppable, not just in the league but also in the Champions League.
The player in question is Real Madrid’s Brazilian forward, Rodrygo. Arsenal’s interest in him has resurfaced after previously prioritizing other targets during the summer transfer window. At that time, Rodrygo was considered lower on the club’s internal ranking compared to other attackers, and the move didn’t materialize. However, with his current form at Real Madrid being inconsistent, he may soon become available.
Gilberto publicly endorsed the idea of bringing Rodrygo to the Emirates, highlighting the forward’s versatility. He pointed out that Rodrygo can play not only on the left wing but across multiple attacking positions, which would offer Arsenal greater tactical flexibility. Speaking to Talk Sport, Gilberto said: “He has the ability to perform in several roles across the forward line. If Arsenal has the opportunity to sign him and strengthen the squad, they should go for it.”
