“Darwin Nunez Sparks Outrage Among Liverpool Fans With ‘Insensitive’ Gesture After Man Utd Clash”

“Liverpool Fans React to Darwin Núñez’s ‘Tone-Deaf’ Gesture After Man Utd Draw”

Darwin Núñez has sparked mixed reactions from Liverpool supporters following his post-match behavior after the team’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United.

The match, which saw Liverpool fight back from an early Lisandro Martínez goal with strikes from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah, ended in frustration as United’s Amad Diallo scored a late equalizer, leaving fans disappointed with the dropped points.

Introduced as a substitute in the 60th minute, Núñez came under fire after the match for swapping shirts with his Uruguay teammate Manuel Ugarte and making heart gestures toward the crowd as he walked off the pitch.

Some fans took to social media to express their disapproval. One shared a video on X with the caption: “Núñez at full time, read the room ffs.” Another added: “Played poorly, got suspended for no reason, and then does heart signs holding a United shirt. I can’t support him anymore.”

However, other supporters defended the striker, explaining that the heart gestures were a regular sign of affection toward his family, which he often uses after games. Some also pointed out that similar gestures were made by other players, including manager Jürgen Klopp.

“There’s no need to clip the video like this,” one fan argued. “Many players were doing the same thing for their families.” Another commented: “He does the heart sign for his family after every game. There’s nothing wrong with it.”

Despite the mixed reaction, Núñez will miss Liverpool’s upcoming crucial clash against Nottingham Forest due to a one-match suspension, following a fifth yellow card of the season for a reckless challenge on Matthijs de Ligt.
