“Konaté Ruled Out of Spurs Clash After Quick Return Against United”
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that Ibrahima Konaté will miss the upcoming Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur, following a quick return to action in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United.
Slot was asked about Konaté’s rapid comeback after injury and explained, “Because he was fit. If he hadn’t been, he wouldn’t have started, and he wouldn’t have trained with us. Once he starts training with the team, he’s fit again.”
Although Konaté played the full 90 minutes against United, Slot acknowledged that playing two games in a week immediately after returning from injury could be too much. “If you’ve been out for a long time, it’s tough to play two games in a week straight away, so don’t be surprised if he doesn’t feature on Wednesday,” Slot added, confirming that Konaté will be rested as a precaution.
With Liverpool preparing for their Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Tottenham, Slot indicated that Jarell Quansah is likely to start. Quansah’s last start was in the cup against Southampton, where he faced a late scare.
However, Slot also praised Wataru Endo’s performance in a central defensive role, suggesting there may be changes to the backline, possibly including a rest for Virgil van Dijk.
