Liverpool have reportedly submitted a €50 million bid for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. The offer consists of an initial €35 million, with an additional €15 million to be paid next season.
This move highlights Liverpool’s renewed interest in the French international, whom they attempted to sign in 2022 before he ultimately chose Real Madrid.
Fierce Competition for Tchouameni
The report suggests that Liverpool will face intense competition for Tchouameni’s signature, with Manchester City among the frontrunners. City urgently need a defensive midfielder following Rodri’s long-term injury, which has severely affected their form. Chelsea and Manchester United are also reportedly in the race, with all three clubs eager to offer Tchouameni a potential exit from Madrid. However, Liverpool are aiming to act swiftly and secure the player before their rivals, with the coming weeks set to be crucial.
An Opportunity for Liverpool
Since joining Real Madrid, Tchouameni’s performances have yet to fully match the level he reached at AS Monaco, which Liverpool sees as a chance to bolster their midfield. The 24-year-old is known for his ability to control the tempo and contribute defensively—qualities that would strengthen a Liverpool midfield that has struggled for depth in the defensive midfield position since the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. While Ryan Gravenberch has adapted well to the role this season, additional reinforcements are still needed.
