Liverpool Fans Are Concerned About £150k p/w Star After Nottingham Forest Draw
Liverpool fans are increasingly worried about their usually reliable goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, following a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest. The Reds dropped points on the road, with Matz Sels’ standout performance in goal making the difference, while Alisson’s display left much to be desired.
Chris Wood put Forest ahead early with his 12th goal of the season, forcing Liverpool to play catch-up. However, substitute Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota combined late to earn a point for the visitors, with Sels continuing to frustrate their attempts to secure a win.
Alisson, who has been one of the world’s top goalkeepers since joining Liverpool in 2018, has not been at his best this season, possibly due to a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for seven matches in October and November. Although his replacement, Caoimhin Kelleher, kept Liverpool unbeaten during that period, Alisson returned in December and has struggled to regain his top form.
Against Forest, Alisson’s performance was criticized, particularly for his slow reaction to Wood’s goal. Fans expressed frustration over his recent decline, with one supporter questioning whether he had made a single save since his return. Another fan highlighted that Alisson had conceded 9 goals from 15 shots on target since coming back, calling it “nowhere near good enough” for a team with title aspirations. Some even suggested that Kelleher should be given another chance in goal.
Liverpool do have a backup plan, with Kelleher having sufficient first-team experience, and the club is also set to sign goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in the summer to provide additional depth.
