Curtis Jones’ Liverpool journey is now heading towards a heartbreaking conclusion. After 16 years with his boyhood club, the Scouser is on the verge of leaving Anfield for Inter Milan in a deal reportedly worth around £30 million, bringing the curtain down on an incredible journey that began when he joined Liverpool’s academy at just nine years old. 🇮🇹🔴
For Jones, Liverpool was never simply another football club. It was home. Born in Liverpool and raised supporting the Reds, he progressed through the academy before eventually fulfilling the childhood dream of pulling on the famous red shirt at senior level.
And what a journey it has been. 🥹❤️
Jones went from academy prospect to first-team regular, making 228 appearances and scoring 22 goals, while collecting six major trophies along the way: two Premier League titles, two Carabao Cups, an FA Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. 🏆🏆
But if there is one fixture that perfectly captures the passion Jones carried for Liverpool, it has to be the Merseyside derby. 🔥
🔥 Those Everton Nights Were Different
Being a Scouser himself, Jones always seemed to understand the importance of Liverpool vs Everton on another level.
His unforgettable FA Cup winner against Everton in January 2020 remains one of the defining moments of his early career. With Liverpool and Everton locked in a tense battle at Anfield, the teenager produced a sensational curling strike that flew beyond Jordan Pickford and sent the stadium into absolute madness. 🤯🔴
It wasn’t just a goal.
It was a statement.
A Liverpool academy kid, playing against the club’s local rivals, producing a moment that would instantly become part of Anfield folklore. ❤️🔥
And that was Jones in a nutshell. He never needed to be the loudest player on the pitch. His football did the talking.
🏆 More Than Just The Derby Hero
Jones’ story wasn’t built around one spectacular Everton moment.
Across the years, he became a valuable member of several Liverpool teams, contributing in big matches and playing his part during trophy-winning campaigns.
He was part of the squad that conquered England and Europe, experienced the intensity of title races and helped Liverpool collect silverware under Jürgen Klopp and beyond.
His medal collection tells its own story. Six major honours from a player who came through the academy is a remarkable achievement. 👏🏆
And in December 2025, Jones reached another emotional milestone when he made his 200th appearance for Liverpool, a landmark that perfectly demonstrated just how far the young Scouser had come.
👀 Now, Italy Awaits…
The latest chapter is almost here.
Inter Milan have pushed hard to bring Jones to Serie A, with Liverpool agreeing a package reported at around €35 million (£30 million) including add-ons. Jones has reportedly travelled to Italy for his medical as the move approaches completion.
It is a huge change for a player who has spent practically his entire footballing life at Liverpool.
The midfielder is entering the final year of his contract and, despite making 49 appearances last season, only 28 of those were starts. A move to Inter could offer Jones the fresh challenge and regular football he needs to take another major step in his career.
And there is something rather fitting about his next destination.
From Liverpool to Milan. 🔴➡️⚫🔵
From the academy pitches at Kirkby to the San Siro.
From a nine-year-old boy dreaming about playing for Liverpool to an established England international preparing to test himself in Serie A. 🇬🇧🇮🇹
❤️ A Scouser Who Gave Everything
Curtis Jones may not leave Liverpool with the same legendary status as Steven Gerrard or Jamie Carragher, but his story will always be special.
He was one of their own.
He joined the academy at U9 level, grew through every age group, made his senior debut, scored unforgettable goals, lifted trophies and eventually reached more than 200 appearances for the club he dreamed of representing as a child.
That is something nobody can ever take away from him.
And if the Inter move is completed, Liverpool supporters will surely look back at Jones with a mixture of pride, sadness and gratitude. 🥹❤️
The boy from Liverpool became a Liverpool player.
He became a champion.
He became a derby hero.
And now, after 16 years, he is ready for one final goodbye to the club that shaped him.
Thank you for the memories, Curtis Jones. ❤️🔴
From U9 to Anfield. From academy kid to Liverpool champion. From Scouser to Serie A.
