Barcelona’s decision to bring in Gabriel Jesus may look like the end of the Julián Álvarez saga, but behind the scenes, the Blaugrana’s plans appear to be far from finished. 👀🔥
The Brazilian forward is now on the verge of completing his move from Arsenal to Barcelona, with reports putting the deal at around €10 million plus performance-related add-ons. Jesus is being brought in to strengthen an attack that needed another natural striker following Robert Lewandowski’s departure.
But here is where things get VERY interesting… 😮💨🍿
According to reports attributed to Fernando Polo, Gabriel Jesus is not being viewed as a replacement for Barcelona’s long-term pursuit of Julián Álvarez. The club’s interest in the Atlético Madrid superstar reportedly remains alive, meaning the door could still open for another attempt in a future transfer window.
Barcelona’s admiration for Álvarez is hardly a secret. President Joan Laporta recently confirmed that the club remains highly interested in the Argentine and that Barça had already made an official approach to Atlético.
And the numbers explain why Barça are so determined. Álvarez has established himself as one of Europe’s most dangerous forwards since joining Atlético, combining goals, movement, pressing and versatility. He can lead the line, drop deeper, link play and create danger in multiple attacking positions. ⚡🎯
The problem? Atlético Madrid have slammed the door shut. 😳🚪
Atlético chief executive Miguel Ángel Gil Marín has publicly insisted that Álvarez will not be sold to Barcelona, with reports even claiming the Madrid club would reject an enormous offer.
That resistance forced Barça to look elsewhere, eventually accelerating their move for Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian therefore gives Hansi Flick another experienced attacking option while Barcelona keep their eyes firmly on the bigger picture. 🔥
And this could be the real twist in the story…
Gabriel Jesus today does not necessarily mean Julián Álvarez tomorrow is impossible. 👀🔵🔴
Barcelona could potentially have Jesus leading the attack while continuing to monitor Álvarez’s situation at Atlético. If circumstances change, the Argentine could once again become a major target. 💰🌪️
For Barça fans, this transfer window may therefore be only the beginning of another huge chapter in the Álvarez saga. The club may have found an immediate solution in Gabriel Jesus, but the dream of bringing Julián Álvarez to Catalonia apparently has not disappeared. 😱🔥
The question now is simple: Could Barça eventually find a way to put Álvarez in the same attack as Lamine Yamal and the rest of Flick’s stars? 🤯🔵🔴
Culers, would you still want Julián Álvarez at Barcelona even after Gabriel Jesus arrives? 👇🔥
