Liverpool have finally found their spark under Andoni Iraola! 😍🔴 After two consecutive 2-2 draws to begin the Premier League campaign, the Reds produced a much-needed 2-0 victory away at Ipswich Town, giving Iraola his first win as Liverpool head coach.
And the headline belongs to Alexander Isak. 🌟🇸🇪
The Swedish striker needed just nine minutes to completely tear the game open, scoring twice in the opening stages and immediately putting Liverpool in control. His first finish came after Cody Gakpo found him, before the Dutchman produced an outrageous outside-of-the-foot pass for Isak to race through and grab his second. ⚽🔥
💥 ISAK HAS ARRIVED!
There had been plenty of anticipation surrounding Isak since his blockbuster move to Anfield, but this was the performance Liverpool fans had been waiting to see. His movement was sharp, his finishing was ruthless and his confidence looked completely restored.
Two goals in three minutes. Two assists from Gakpo. Liverpool were flying. 🚀⚽⚽
Isak even thought he had completed a hat-trick before the interval, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. 😱
🪄 GAKPO QUIETLY STEALS THE SHOW
While Isak grabbed the headlines, Cody Gakpo was absolutely sensational.
The Dutch forward created both goals and continued his impressive start to life under Iraola. His combination with Isak is quickly becoming one of the most exciting attacking connections at Anfield. 🔗🔥
The timing, movement and creativity between the pair gave Ipswich a nightmare from the opening whistle, and Liverpool suddenly looked far more dangerous in the final third.
🇫🇷 BARCOLA MAKES HIS LONG-AWAITED DEBUT
There was another major moment for the Reds as Bradley Barcola finally made his Liverpool debut following his huge summer move from Paris Saint-Germain. 💰👀
The French winger came off the bench in the second half and was given around half an hour to experience Premier League football in a Liverpool shirt.
He may not have had enough time to completely take over the game, but his introduction offered another tantalising glimpse of the attacking firepower now available to Iraola. ⚡🇫🇷
Imagine Isak, Gakpo, Barcola and Wirtz all clicking at full speed… 😮💨🔥
🧱 ARAUJO BRINGS STEEL TO THE BACK
Liverpool also had plenty to celebrate defensively.
Ronald Araújo made his full debut at right-back and delivered a commanding performance, helping the Reds keep Ipswich at bay. Virgil van Dijk once again provided leadership at the heart of the defence as Liverpool secured a clean sheet. 🛡️🔴
It was exactly the kind of defensive solidity Iraola will want as his ideas continue to take shape.
📈 THE IRAOLA PROJECT IS STARTING TO CLICK
The victory was about more than just three points.
Liverpool looked sharper, more aggressive and more organised, while Iraola showed tactical flexibility when Ipswich pushed for a way back into the contest. The Reds managed the advantage professionally and protected their lead until the final whistle.
After two draws, Iraola now has his first Liverpool victory, Isak has his first Reds brace, Gakpo is producing assists for fun and Barcola has finally stepped onto the Premier League stage.
The new Liverpool era may have taken a little time to ignite…
But now the 🔥 is burning.
And if Isak + Gakpo + Barcola + Wirtz start firing together consistently, Liverpool could become a very serious problem for the rest of the Premier League. 👀🔴🔥
The Reds are up and running. And this could only be the beginning. ❤️🔥🏆
