Ronald Araujo has started just one game for Liverpool since completing his move, and naturally, that has already raised questions among supporters about his role in the team.
However, his lack of starts does not appear to have changed Liverpool’s opinion of the defender.
The Uruguayan arrived at Anfield with a huge reputation, bringing physicality, defensive aggression and the versatility to operate in different positions across the back line. Yet with fierce competition for places, opportunities have been limited so far.
That has not stopped Araujo from remaining an important part of the squad. Liverpool reportedly remain confident in what he can offer and believe there is much more to come from the defender as he settles into his new surroundings.
For now, the biggest challenge is forcing his way into the manager’s strongest XI. With a long season ahead and plenty of matches to play, Araujo will have opportunities to change the situation.
